Top notch hotel in Singapore
This is my first time organizing a seminar in Fairmont for my company after comparing other hotels around the city. Participants were coming from regional countries and i needed to turn around contracts and rooms. The sales team was initially prompt in sending me the price list of the rooms and what was available. However, after selecting the hotel, i felt there was a nonchalant attitude toward my booking and I had to chase for contracts or confirmation as I got worried as the date came closer for the event. When i received the final contract, the sales manager indicated a turnaround of less than 24 hrs to sign the contract which I felt was ridiculous since i had to get my Legal Counsel and CEO from Paris to review and sign the contract. Plus the initial contract had errors which were already past due and signed by Fairmont APAC GM. In addition, I was not able to provide an exact number of guest arriving due to last-minute changes however she insist the numbers need to be confirmed in the contract and no show means, it will be charged respectively. I felt there could be some form of flexibility from Fairmont however i had no choice but to provide the number of people based on my conversation with my colleagues. We did lose one room due to a colleague who couldn't make it. I felt it was not right and had to raise it up to her line manager and she gave us a reasonable timing to sign the contract and to get back to with a reasonable turnaround. No comments for logistic and catering as it went pretty well. However as Fairmont service, i have few comments to provide. Pros 1) The rooms are fantastic, i enjoyed my room stay and it was a pleasure. 2) The hotel is centrally located. 3) Privacy is well maintained in the hotel. 4) Housekeeping is prompt in their service. Cons 1) the breakfast at Pregos was slow and the waiters seemed to be lost. Not sure if they are new. 2) The spread at Asia Cafe for breakfast was disappointing for Asian cuisine. 3) The staff seemed to be unpleasant and not cheery at Pregos. 4) The atmosphere at the reception and lounge area is not welcoming or warm. ( I didnt get the warmth feeling that i get from other 5-star hotels for their guest) 5) I asked for a late checkout since my booking for the seminar room was till 5pm and the duty manager gave me a straight "No" and after negotiating with her she gave an extra 1 hr citing that they are full for the day when my other colleagues got it till 3pm. I didnt ask much, i checkout at 1230pm. Overall, i didnt feel welcome in this hotel and didn't feel the guest were treated in an equitable manner. It might be Fairmont but i didnt get the vibes that this is a 5-star hotel and you feel welcome. Every guest matters hence i hope Fairmont will look into some aspects of giving their staff some training in hospitability and how to manage customer expectations. Thank you.
TV in room 2629 not working. Engineer visited after raising this issue (multiple times) with the front office, and left without fixing it. In addition, my request re a smart tv box was unanswered. Apparently the IT department at the hotel only works from 9 am til 5 pm, and any requests have to wait til next day. Who would call the hotel IT department during these hours? We all need to be out and heading to our business meetings during that time. What a lame excuse!
Breakfast - good Room - good Hairdryer - terrible needed to request one that you do not have to hold onto to keep it working A/C - the reason I won’t stay again min temp 20 degrees but it was more like 23 room was too hot and a/c too noisy.

1. Offered a room upgrade to Ambassador Suite with the cost 2. Gold lounge food on Thursday evening was great - Singapore Sling shot too sweet and the wine selection was on the average. 3. Friday breakfast - was not as great and evening lounge food was suboptimal. 4. Room was maintained well and enjoyed turn down service. - however I did mention to fix the shower head and drainage issue on the bathtub 5. Concierge team was great and helpful.
