FAIRMONT LEGACY
William Cornelious Van Horn had a vision to bring the beauty of the Canadian Rocky Mountains to the rest of the world. He Comissioned blueprints for an impressive hotel to be built at the convergence of the Bow and Spray River, in what is now known as Canada's first National Park. Construction began in 1887 and th ehotel publically opend on June 1, 1888.

In 1969, John Lennon and Yoko Ono make suite 1742 famous with their week-long Bed-In for Peace at Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth. The famous couple greets friends and the press during their stay as they compose and record the anti-war anthem, "Give Peace a Chance" from their bed.
