It’s a hidden gem, there’s a reason why they chose this location or the G7. We came from Vancouver to stay and were relaxed and entertained with the many onsite amenities and free activities. The view is spectacular and the quaint village below charming.
Everything I expected from an elite resort location.
We stayed for 2 nights in the summer with our children. We loved the location and were super impressed by all of the free activities to do. Our kids are already begging to come back.

The Germans have an expression for a large hotel 'Bettenburg' and the Chateau is one of these.Fairmont was an aspirational brand with a certain panache a long time ago. Entering the hotel one meets a rather jaded looking staircase and sad main lobby with a wall color that could be described as Railway Station Chic. All rather sad and it would be a good location to film a remake of The Shining. Staff were very friendly and helpful where the could be but many of them came across as kids from hotel school getting industrial experience. Food was very good in the St. Laurent but service was a bit like Fawlty Towers. Not unfriendly in any way but lacking any comfortable style - and we could smell the cigarettes off one of the servers. Very expensive for what it was. Gym was good and pool was clean but reminded one of boarding school.
The prices are exorbitant
Let me make this statement at the very beginning for I have been vacationing here for 30 years and feel completely loyal to the Manior. I probably will be asked in-depth questions as I proceeded into this survey And hopefully, I will be able to expound on my answers to your questions.
From the front desk staff to the restaurant servers, everyone made us feel welcomed.
The rooms reserved were very satisfactory. We had meals at breakfast which we really enjoyed. We had one dinner meal in the restaurant on the lower level which was troubled by an inexperienced server not getting our order correct resulting in one of our party getting their meal well after others were finishing. We had one dinner meal in the main floor dining room. That evening a boisterous group men entered the restaurant in a raucous fashion and they clearly created a disturbance requiring a manager's intervention. Despite this distraction, our food was generally good and the service was much better with a seasoned professional. We had drinks in the lobby lounge on a couple of occasions. Good drinks and competent staff. The staff at the pool were the clear stand outs, unfailingly friendly and helpful. I was surprised to learn these folks are not part of your permanent staff but are instead contracted. I would say that is a management error in judgement. The engagement from the front desk staff upon check-in was odd. I was offered an "upgrade" to a room without a river view for which I would have to pay. I cannot imagine such an offer being enticing to many guests.
Unwelcoming - we arrived at the front of hotel and valet was just standing, we ended up parking the car instead of using valet service. Deceptive - I am being asked to pay for upgrade, but I have Platinum status in Accor. Only when I told them that they did not charge me. Lack of staff - took more than 1hr and two follow-ups to provide our request for additional towels and bathroom. Aging facilities - hotel looks tired, and facilities need significant overhaul.
