Thin windows overlook a nightly festival in the summertime, making rooms on that side of the hotel unbearably loud. Staff tried to reaccommodate us, into a narrow room with the restroom door directly by the head of the bed.
Doesn’t get any better

Queen Elizabeth Fairmont was the most disappointing Fairmont experience I have ever had. I have stayed at the following Fairmonts (most of them multiple times): Empress, Frontenac, Laurier, Pallier, Whistler, Jasper and Royal York. All of these locations are far superior to the Queen Elizabeth. We booked six nights in a Jr Suite directly with Fairmont, one of the top room categories. When we checked in the front desk agent felt like a sleazy car salesman trying to upgrade us for a fee despite us not being interested, he was very pushy about it and even after we said we weren't interested he went back to the manager to get a better price. It had nothing to do with the price, we simply didn't not feel like we needed to pay for an upgrade when we already booked a suite. The front desk was clearly irritated we did not want to upgrade despite his pushiness and subsequently gave us the worst jr suite room in the hotel, room 405. I suppose this was the reward for booking directly with Fairmont. :/ Regarding the room itself - the carpets were filthy in the room and in the hallway to the room - they looked dirty and smelled dirty. The baseboards were filthy as well with what looked like years of dust on them. The bathroom fan did not work. The air-conditioning did not cool properly. The first night we were there, we left the do not disturb sign on and the housekeeping came in anyway. The second and third day we did not have the do not disturb on and no housekeeping came in despite us leaving around 12pm and seeing the housekeeping in the hallway. Fairmont's decision to have fridges that are sensor only and zero room for any personal items feels very cheap. Our tea was never refilled once. Room service - the people who took our order and delivered the food were excellent. The food itself left a lot to be desired. We had a poutine, Cesar salad with chicken, and club sandwich. The poutine was particularly bad which is pretty shocking since Quebec is home of the poutine. Valet - valet was efficient and decent. With the exception one day we got our car back and the mirror was changed, the seat was changed and the interface language was changed - which they would had had to dig deep into the menu to change this. This was really odd and I have never had this happen at any valet before. Upon checkout the agent asked me how our stay was and I told her about these issues, she apologised and continue to check me out as usual - she seemed unequipped to deal with any response other than "our stay was great". This is also very poor service. Any one of these issues on its own would not be a big deal but all of these together resulted in a terrible experience at the Queen Elizabeth. The hotel clearly needs an overhaul in how things are managed to remain in the same standards as other Fairmonts.
Staff very pleasant and helpful. Room and bathroom small but clean and comfortable. Lobby was overcrowded with little seating. No obvious meet and greet bar area.
Short visit at a well-known spot. It might have been nice, on check-in, to have been told of the Gold Floor lounge and benefits as I limited my experience at the hotel to a whiskey from the minibar in the room.

Although our stay did not start off well, we enjoyed the hotel very much. When we arrived in Montreal the front of the hotel was blocked off due to construction. After calling the hotel, the person on the other line guided us to park on the side street. Once we checked in we inquired about the valet. The front desk clerk told us to leave our car on the side street and give her the keys. We were hesitant as no valet was to be seen. What she did not tell us was we were supposed to drive our car to the valet entrance and the valet would pick it up. This was all after midnight as we arrived late in Montreal. She did NOT convey where the valet entrance was located. After driving around in circles for over 30 minutes we finally found the valet entrance. Definitely a very BAD way to begin our vacation. Also, along with the deposit ($300) 2 pre authorizations were places on our credit card. One for $500 and the second for $400. Our room was prepaid. When I inquired at the front desk, the manager came out to say both were done in error. As for the room, it was indeed very comfortable and we had a nice stay in Montreal except for the 2 incidents mentioned previously.
Everything was seamless at check-in, we opted to upgrade to a King Suite at check-in!! Absolutely gorgeous room, I was disappointed that I found garbage opened up with leftover food in the package inside the mini bar area, when we pulled the couch out and underneath had garbage and popcorn and chips, the duvet for the pull-out had a stain in the middle.
The front desk staff were welcoming and very helpful. The view from our room was beautiful. The location for our train travel and walking to the old port was excellent.

The hotel is located in an ideal location. However the rooms are underwhelmjng. The ac did not work in our room. There is no fan in the washroom. The rooms are very small. There is no mini fridge in the room. Considering the high cost of the room, the space and amentities dis not match.
