In exploring this territory, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts was compelled to embark on a global research study to uncover the motivations of luxury travelers: what connects locals and guests alike to a destination and the importance guests place on how hotels engage with their local communities. Fairmont’s 2018 Global Luxury Traveler Insights Study was the impetus for developing the brand’s second Luxury Insights Report: Gateway to Home - Hotels as the Heart of their Communities. The report explores five pillars to deeply understand the relationship between hotels and the places they call home: experience, colleague connections, sustainability, family memories, and community.
