It was our 40th anniversary and EVERYONE did all they could to make it magical. Mykela at reception greeted us wamly and started the experience. She was amazing. She had the support of her management team to make dreams come true - so they too should be acknowledged. From the new bell hop Unice, to ethe experienced bell hop Gordon, to the sophisticated but incredibly witty and kind concierge Samuel, Alexandre should be recognized for the effort he makes to have this welcome team make you feel like you are the most important people in the world!
I had a lovely visit when I was there for work last week. From arrival to departure your staff were all very professional and helpful, the room clean and comfortable. I appreciated the amenities from the gym to the mouthwash and tea selection. I did look for a hotel guide and it took a few minutes before I realized it was on the TV (but my TV needed to be rebooted) -- however, this was not a major inconvenience.
In my opinion as a seasoned traveller, there are three essential things that a hotel should offer. 1- blackout blinds, 2- quiet space meaning you can turn off the heating/AC fan, 3- a comfortable bed. The bed was comfortable. However, the blinds do not block the light so much so, you can read with the lights out. Our room was on the 1st floor. The Air conditioner fan did not shut off - was programmed to keep running. I think the hotel keeps it on in order to block the noise coming from the street and the next door rooms since the walls are not soundproof. Or maybe it was because the room did have a musty smell - humidity. The machine itself very noisy. We were put on the floor where there was wedding cocktail parties. On the first night, we did not sleep. On night 2, I used ear plugs which helped with the sound. I should have brought my eye mask. At checkout I indicated this to the desk. We were refunded 50$ per night. I'm disappointed that the ''iconic'' hotel was not much of an experience.
I always love staying here. A beautiful hotel, located perfectly downtown and has had so much history! Beds are comfortable and staff always helpful and pleasant.
very good overall; great location for walking downtown; was crowded on Sunday & poor vegetarian options in the main restaurant
The staff was great at check in and service in the gold lounge was good too. However, the rooms are seriously lacking. The room temperature was at a steady 24°C for 2 days, regardless of the cheap fan placed against the ac or if the windows were opened at night. This was already 2 days after the heat wave ended. It was difficult to sleep in, especially for our baby traveling with us. We were then transferred to a different room that was 23°C overnight with a shower that hardly had any water pressure! All I wanted that weekend was to have a comfortable relaxing stay, but staying at home would've felt better.
I have stayed at many Fairmonts over the years. I have stayed at this location 10-12 times. I can say that the room was as good as ever as was the front desk service. However, I was shocked to find the hallways, ice room and pool area to be neglected and dirty. Valet pickup at checkout was also unreasonably long and disorganized.
Good front desk and duty manager.
Was very disappointed! The TV was broken (we called at least 3 times - were given a new remote - which was not the solution ... was told that issue would be escalated - it was not) ... could not get any channels and could not turn TV off! A/C in the room did not work - bringing a fan to the room was not a solution! Reserved a Queen bed - it was definitely a double! Was given $150 off the bill - the room should have been free! There were others at the check out desk with the same issues with their rooms! Will not be back!
