Fairmont Olympic

Seattle's Landmark since 1924

our STORY

The Fairmont Olympic Hotel, Seattle’s first purpose-built luxury hotel and the original site of the University of Washington, set new standards for luxury, comfort and service, praised by The Seattle Times as "Second to None." Partially funded by the community, it became a magnet for Seattleites, celebrities, and the glamorous. A storied landmark, it remains an iconic fixture of Seattle society—a place to see and be seen.

1951

The stout man in a sober suit pauses at the mail window in our Lobby in 1951 wouldn't merit a second glance, but this was Bing Crosby, an American singer, and actor who became one of the first global cultural icons and influential musical artists of the 20th century.

1977

A quiet and shy Tommy Ramone, the Hungarian-American musician who gave punk rock its pulse, walked through The Olympic's Georgian kitchen. He took a deep breath before preparing to perform for just $5 a ticket.
