Best Location. The Staff were wonderful. Room was great!
Outstanding customer service, Find group of people working at the location, And I thank you Shah
Overall a wonderful customer experience, beautiful room, excellent maid service and professional staff. I was presently surprised how good both breakfast and lunch that were served on the first floor. But you must urgently replace the bench seating in the dinning room, too low and uncomfortably, took away from the enjoyment of the meal for everybody who had to sit there . Also, you need better remote controls and interface software for the TV's in the room. Annoying to get to the channel guile, could not view my bill during my entire stay.
Even though I stayed here for a day, I had a pleasant stay! My room was immaculate, spacious, and well-appointed with modern amenities. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep after a long day of travel and meetings. The hotel's location was perfect, offering easy access to the offices I went to for work meetings, dinners and local attractions. I loved the hotel's own restaurant, where I sat with two coworkers for some appetizers and drinks before a work priority. The staff was very friendly and easy to work with in the check-in and check-out process. I will return on my next trip to Chicago!
When I asked about early check-in the gentleman had a rude tone in his voice. Early check-in wasn't an option which isn't really a big deal since they can hold the bags. However on the first night we had to call house cleaning up to the room to clean a considerable amount of mildew out of the shower. Isn't getting the room ready the point of not allowing early check-in? The refrigerator I requested upon check-in (+ once after) never arrived. House cleaning only came when we called despite the fact that the do not disturb wasn't hanging. Three of us were in the room, which I told the front desk upon check-in, but had to ask for an extra robe, towels, and hangers. We were interrupted every evening for them to ask about the mini bar.... seems like they could have found a better time of day check for themselves. It felt like a lot of EASY missed opportunities for great customer service. This was a 26yr college reunion of old friends and our first time staying at the hotel. Won't be back. All the staff except the gentleman I mentioned earlier were very nice though.
I booked this trip through AMEX Fine Hotels and Resorts and was looking forward to returning to the Fairmont Chicago, where I last stayed in 2010. Unfortunately, our experience was not at the level of that previous stay. The room was fine, if not a little dated. The lack of a usable refrigerator was frustrating, as we had medicine that needed to be stored. The hotel did not have any available mini-refrigerators until the next morning. Unfortunately, that one died mid-way through our stay, and they did not have any additional ones. We'd decided to use our FHR room credit on a room service breakfast. There was not a menu in the room and it took some searching to find online. The breakfast was fine not amazing, but the more frustrating part is that the prices we were charged were roughly 50% more than what was published online. When I called room service to ask about this, I was told the online menu was out of date but that she could send me a new one. I would have appreciated being told when I placed the order as a new menu after the order did not do me any good. The omelet and breakfast burrito certainly weren't worth $30+ each. The housekeeping service was spotty. I had to call for a refill of coffee pods, new glasses, and mugs and to replace the two shampoos in the shower with shampoo and conditioner. Multiple outlets, including the power strip on the desk, did not work in the room. The bar in the hotel was fine, though service was very slow every time we were there. And a FedEx office isn't a business center! I'd planned to work from there one morning so as not to wake my friend, but it is hard to work when you're crammed into a space between a desktop computer and a copy machine. Just don't advertise a business center; advertise a FedEx.
We had lot of hair from previous people in the bath tub and in shower.
Overall a good choice to stay for a weekend getaway. Location is perfect for walking to tourist areas. The staff was very friendly. The service in the bar was not great. We stopped in for a drink Saturday around 9pm before going up to room and sat at the bar. There were 2 bartenders and it took a long time to be greeted and served--the bar seats like 8 people. We tried the breakfast on Sunday morning around 8:30. Took really long time for a server to take our order. Coffee and water came really fast so that was ok. The server that took our order was very nice but took him 20 minutes to get to us. It wasn't crowded at all. Maybe they were short-staffed. I don't know. My biggest complaint is that the order came out about 1520 ,minutes after he took it and all of our food was cold--all of it. We didn't have the time to send it back as we had timed ticket for the Willis Tower. I let the server know and he was apologetic and seems to be concerned--I appreciated that. Ok, so at checkout, we were given 50% off the breakfast-better than nothing I guess. We enjoyed our stay except for bar and food service-so maybe look for other dining alternatives of which there are many within walking distance.
The ice machine on my floor was broken, I took the elevator to different floor to get ice and got off a renovated floor. It felt like I was in a different hotel. Marble by the elevators and fresh paint & carpets. A room was open for cleaning and the decor was modern not out the 1990s like my room. I realized then I I was placed in your steerage rooms which I didn't expect at a Fairmont hotel. I honestly didn't know you had rooms equivalent to a Holiday Inn Express (not that there is anything wrong with Holiday Inn Express, but they don't advertise as a 4 star property) . Don't get me started on the pillows. They were horrible!! I had 4 pillows on the bed and they were all equally hard as rocks. Most hotels, even the Holiday Inn Express, give you a couple of choices of pillows, but again I guess you don't value all your guests comfort. I do like to commend your cleaning staff, they did keep the room spotless. I'm also happy to report absolutely no bedbugs were found.
