The room had a nice view - very comfortable accommodations Very friendly and helpful staff.
The rooms were very nicely furnished, clean, and having Nespresso coffee and teas was great. The rooms were generally cold however because the hallways were not heated (perhaps 15 degree difference), which made for uncomfortable walks to and from the room and leakage of heat in the hallway as well as near windows. I also found the front desk staff to vary in availability (hardly anyone in lobby) and friendliness.

I booked the Fairmont due to a conference I was attending being held there. Considering the internet boasts this hotel as 'Chicago's luxury hotel' and the pictures were beautiful, I had higher expectations. Check-in was awkward, the building is old, my room smelled, had mold along the sink, cracks in the shower, the shower head leaked, no fridge to keep anything cold and I was staying for 4 nights. There is no pool or many amenities to speak of, not even complimentary water in the room. I then realized they have renovated floors and different check-in that provides other guests an entirely different experience. My husband and I were also questioned about why we were at the hotel as we were walking in, as if we weren't paying guests. All-in-all, I wouldn't stay at Fairmont again and I wouldn't recommend it to a friend. The view was gorgeous, though, and the location isn't terrible, just not the best experience and I expected more.

The room was great. The staff at the restaurant and bar were consistently wonderful (give them a raise)! The room door was a bit hard and noisy to open. Also, directions to, and within, the pedway could have been improved with more/better signage. Overall, we were very happy with our stay.
Room was nice BUT COLD. Turned up temperature and turned up fan but remained cold overnight. Staff nice. Appreciated getting into the room early on day of arrival.
Everyone I encountered at the Fairmont delivered outstanding customer care from the bell hop upon my arrival who helped me after a horrifying taxi ride from the airport, to Steven at the front desk who was kind and attentive at checking me in and helping me recover from the horrifying taxi ride, to the Accounting department who helped me with my Folio. Exceptional customer care.
We stayed at Fairmont Chicago for four days & enjoyed the excellent guest suites and conference meeting hall for our International Clinical Cancer Genomics conference held by University of Chicago & City of Hope. Our beds and pillow were soft & comfortable & we loved the guest bathrobes, hot showers and gorgeous view of the city on 34th floor. Temperatures in the meeting were just right. All the catering dishes were delicious and we danced all night at the Saturday night 1920’s themed Gala celebration. One item to mention is my genetic colleague roommate and I split the price of our stay and the front desk gentleman put the entire bill on my roommate’s credit card when my roommate paid her amount Sat night. And when we returned to the front desk an hour later that Sat night the front desk female guest service agent spent over 30 minutes making the proper corrections so that both my roommate and I each paid half of the hotel bill and as she was the only front desk person.. the hotel guests standing behind us also waited for a very long time. Maybe having more than one front desk agent at nights?? Would be appreciated ! Thank you overall for an otherwise wonderful visit to Fairmont Chicago! And we would return again to stay with you.
