Fabulous stay at Fairmont Taghazout
On the recommendation of a friend, my wife and I stayed at the Fairmont between the 22nd and 29th of February. Our experience from first entering the hotel until the day of our departure was nothing but a delight. Reception staff were friendly and welcoming, explaining all of the facilities that the hotel had to offer. We were shown to our ocean view room, which was immaculate, very well appointed and extremely comfortable. A perfect view of the fabulous beach and ocean, and every evening we were treated to another perfect sunset.
Without exception, every member of staff was incredibly polite, efficient, helpful and friendly. Breakfast involved a huge amount of choice from fresh fruit and delicious juices through to every type of cooked breakfast that you could imagine. Freshly baked bread, gorgeous local honey and as much tea and coffee as you could manage. For dinner, there was a choice of a fabulous Japanese restaurant, gorgeous, though, not inexpensive. There is also a rooftop Tapas restaurant and "Beef and Reef" which has a much more mainstream selection of dishes.
For those with children, there is a large pool area with what would appear to be 2-3 different pools at varying depths.
This is adjacent to a playground and kids club which is in close vicinity to "Beef and Reef"
As our children are all adults, my wife and I were able to take advantage of the peace and tranquility of the adults only pool. This is a huge and beautiful pool with plenty of sunbeds as well as Cabana's, so you can have as much, or as little of the sun as you wish. There is also a swim up bar which has a shaded area. Pool staff were incredibly friendly, laying out fresh towels on your chosen bed as soon as you arrived. They also came around regularly to offer drinks, as well as poolside snacks and lunches.
I think that the hotel was reasonably busy, however, due to its size and layout, it felt very quiet and peaceful. It might possibly have been due to the time of year, but there were occasions when there were no more than eight-10 people around the adult pool.
It was a two minute walk from our room to the beachfront boardwalk. From here you can walk/run in either direction to enjoy the fresh sea air and uninterrupted views of the ocean. There are also bikes for hire from the hotel, and it is an easy 20 minutes cycle to the local surfing town of Taghazout.
I also need to give a mention to Soumia, the guest services manager. Incredibly charming and helpful. She always went out of her way to come up to say hello, and make sure that we were happy with everything. She was also able to give us some useful advice on local places of interest.
I have to say I would be hard pressed to think of any negative points associated with our stay, and it will be our firm intention to return in the not too distant future.
