We stayed for 3 nights to explore San Francisco. Also we love tiki bars so wanted to be near the Tonga room
It was clean and comfortable place. Location was convinient and staffs were very kind.
The Fairmont is a historic accommodation; as we explore the architecture of the venue, we hear stories of famous people residing in this hotel, including the POTUS as well as Janet Jackson (who although this time round had her concert during the time of our stay but did not stay here). The location of the Fairmont is also convenient, though it would be easier for one to commute through public transportation (download Clipper!) or private hire cars (as the Fairmont is located in a slope area). Despite the luxurious feel of the accommodation, it was a little distasteful when it was informed to us that almost everything is chargeable, from the WIFI (unless you are an Accor member) to the items in the fridge. The hotel also stocked up the fridge in the hotel with items, where if you remove the items you would be charged - leaving no space for you to place your personal items in the fridge. We also asked if there was a coffeehouse in the hotel, and was told of one, the Cirque. However, when we went to the coffeehouse, we were informed it was closed by mid-day. All in, it was rather disappointing to not have such conveniences at a luxury hotel. The saving grace was the service of the bell boy / door man (who had been working at the Fairmont for decades and had interesting nuggets of information to share) who made our visit great from the start.
In/out. No issues.

We loved our stay at the Fairmont. The location is amazing, the view is amazing, and all employees were polite and accommodating. Will definitely return.

I had a pleasant stay overall except some of the staff questioned whether my friend and I were guests of the hotel. Not sure if it was because we were minorities but no one else was questioned.
was disappointed in that no robes in the room, no shoe horn, no coffee machine. These are standard in most hotels of this caliber. I even had a suite and none of these amenities were available.

I was disappointed with the view despite paying an upgrade fee. The water force in the faucet was slow. Similar experience with the shower. This is not what I expect while paying over $500 per night! I had to ask for bathrobe and slippers which should have already been ready before our check-in. If not, then whats the point of knowing my approximate ETA, if the room isn't prepped.
Horrible situation on my second night. I ordered room service, as I had the night before (the room service delivery man was very kind, this was not his fault) I charged the room service to my room as I had the night prior. I ate my meal and then took a shower. When I got out of the shower there was knocking on the door and the phone was ringing. I tried to answer the phone, but the phone did not work well. It was very hard to hear the person on the other line. They told me that the manager was at the front door, that they didn't have my card for incidentals and that I needed to immediately pay cash or give my credit card to the manager. They were very aggressive and made me feel like I was a criminal about to run off with the room service. This is not how you treat people. I told the front desk what happened and the woman did not seem to care. It was not until check out that a very friendly front desk person apologized .
