Fairmont Pacific Rim’s monthly newsletter, Views from the Rim,
offers insider viewpoints from the design, construction and Fairmont
teams who are visiting the site on a regular basis. Each month, we’ll
provide news and insights, stories and musings, and stunning views
from the hotel’s interior, to keep you in the know about our progress.

High tech, high touch
Fairmont Pacific Rim features the very
latest technology to provide you with the
ultimate in comfort and convenience,
whether you’re here for business or
pleasure.
 |
|
Our “high tech, high touch” care begins the
moment you enter your guest room: special
sensors automatically turn the lights on to
welcome you. These same sensors reduce
energy use by turning the lights off when
the room is empty.
And the care continues, with entertainment
options literally at your fingertips. The
desk’s built-in media panel accommodates
both wired and wireless Internet access. You
can plug in your laptop and let the 42-inch
LCD TV become a super-sized monitor—
perfect for watching videos or, if you’re in
business mode, for reviewing and sharing
presentations. |
|
Connect your iPod or MP3 player and
immerse yourself in music through the
state-of-the-art surround-sound system. Or
relax in the bathroom’s deep tub, while
watching the LCD TV (complete with Bose
sound system) embedded in the mirror.
Of course, if you want to sleep in, simply
select the digital “Do Not Disturb” sign next
to the door, and nestle into the luxurious
Stearns & Foster bed. You can even set the
ideal mood by adjusting the room’s lighting
and curtains using the bedside touch-button
controls. |

Michelle Shivak,
Director of Human
Resources
We are pleased to introduce
our Director of |
Human Resources, Michelle Shivak. Bringing
over a decade of HR experience to her position, she has worked at
|
|
The Fairmont
Chateau Whistler, The Fairmont
Vancouver Airport and The Fairmont
Hotel Vancouver; she also assisted with
the opening of Fairmont Bab Al Bahr, in
Abu Dhabi. Michelle boasts a true passion
for finding great talent, and is no stranger to large recruitment efforts—having to
hire |
|
over 400 employees per year for the
Whistler property. Hiring 300 for our
opening in January shouldn’t be a
problem! |

 |
 |
| An oasis in the heart of the city
Willow Stream Spa at Fairmont Pacific
Rim promises to be nothing short of
extraordinary. For the first time in
Vancouver, spa guests will be able to relax
on a spacious and private outdoor deck,
while taking in spectacular views of the
ocean and mountains. The spa deck will have shared as well as |
 |
separate areas for men and women. After
enjoying a rejuvenating spa treatment,
men will be able to relax in an outdoor hot
tub or a “steam teepee.” Women can also
enjoy their own “steam teepee” or
experience the tranquility of one of five
meditation pods. |

Witnessing the construction of a hotel is
like watching the creation of a great work
of art: at the beginning, it can be difficult
to envision how it’s going to look. As we
approach our opening date of January 18,
2010, however, the picture is definitely
coming into focus. And we continue to
make inroads: more than half of the hotel’s
22 floors are now carpeted, and all of the
bathrooms are nearly completed; the spa
and fitness centre has been drywalled, the
lobby is entirely framed in, and the
kitchen equipment is being installed.
But, a hotel is more than just a building.
It’s a place where people make memories
that last a lifetime. And Fairmont Pacific
Rim is destined to offer truly spectacular
and memorable experiences to its guests. |
 |
From the rich decor to the unparalleled
level of service, we aim to create a hotel
that exceeds your expectations.
Among our Fairmont Gold offerings is our
exclusive butler service: specially trained
butlers will offer personalized service—
from drawing your bath to pressing your
clothes, serving your morning coffee to
booking your limousine.
We are also putting into place other
services and features that are sure to raise
the bar for hotels across the country. I look
forward to telling you more about these
exciting plans, and our continued progress,
in the months ahead. |
