Fairmont Pacific Rim’s monthly newsletter, Views from the Rim, offers insider viewpoints from the design, construction and Fairmont teams who are visiting the site on a regular basis. Each month, we’ll provide news and insights, stories and musings, and stunning views from the hotel’s interior, to keep you in the know about our progress.

Room-ers
Models of Luxury
Two stunning models have arrived at Fairmont Pacific Rim: two guest room mock-ups, that is, complete and ready for viewing. Each room features fresh, silvery champagne tones, which evoke the airiness of the natural landscape.

Streamlined furniture pieces and clean woods exemplify an educated understanding of minimalism and restraint, while the lavish fabrics and custom millwork create a warm, opulent setting. True to our promise of luxury, all rooms will offer 42-inch (106-centimetre) TVs, Bose surround sound, state-of-the-art technology, Stearns & Foster beds, fine Italian Mascioni bed and bath linens—and expansive marble bathrooms, with LCD TVs in the mirrors, soaker or jetted tubs, and separate showers with luxurious rain showerheads.
Due to the exciting and overwhelming demand for site inspections, our sales team will be rolling out a tour schedule starting late-August. We look forward to introducing you to our models!

Insight
Rooftop sanctuary
What better way to make use of Fairmont Pacific Rim’s unprecedented views than to create the city’s best rooftop pool? Thanks to our collaboration with the esteemed James KM Cheng Architects Inc. team, we are pleased to unveil the design plans for the ultimate in sophisticated relaxation. An outdoor pool, cabanas and five firepits set the stage for this urban oasis, while
modern landscaping, world-class harbour views and poolside dining complete the experience.

Musings
The long-awaited removal of the crane from the Fairmont Pacific Rim construction site occurred on June 15, 2009. With the exterior of the building structurally complete, the envelope finished, and the yet-to-be-unveiled public art project ready, we are in excellent shape for our opening in January of 2010.

What makes a stay in a luxury hotel special is the opportunity to be surrounded by extraordinary items not typically found in our personal residences. With a price tag of $190,000, the Fazioli piano that is currently being created for the Fairmont Pacific Rim lobby lounge is certainly extraordinary. Touted as “the Ferrari of the piano world,” these Italian-made grand pianos are among the most carefully crafted available, with only 100 produced
each year. Our custom-designed piano will have a white lacquer exterior, with the signature Fazioli 18-karat-gold hardware, and a walnut interior. For added flair, the interior of the lid is being engraved with an intricate origami pattern. We are very excited to see the end product—which is sure to be the showpiece of our lobby lounge.

We are also hard at work building an incredible team of talent, which will ensure that the famous Fairmont guest service is perfectly executed. Our fashion consultant with Cintas Uniforms has been tasked with ensuring that we also have the best-dressed group in the city, by creating a collection of uniforms that are strongly inspired by contemporary clothing design. The colour palette is a mix of clear,
sophisticated neutrals anchored by a rich, stylish black; the fabrications are luxurious and elegant; and the design offers unexpected, subtle details such as grosgrain ribbons and textured bengaline trim—small hints to the Asian inspiration featured throughout the property.

As announced in the May newsletter, our Online Reservations platform is now open for individual bookings. Our first online reservation quickly followed the launch, and was made by a Platinum member of our Fairmont President’s Club. It will be a rewarding day for our opening team when we welcome this guest through our doors in March. To book, please visit our website at www.fairmont.com/pacificrim
