Great staff (except for the Sunday evening front desk clerk)

This is a copy of the email I sent to cu… “I thought I would share a few thoughts and photos related to our recent stay at Chateau Montebello. My 92 YO Mother, sister and I went to celebrate my 65th (yikes!) birthday checking in Nov 3 and departing Nov 5 for a total of 6 room nights. All the staff (except the Sunday evening night clerk) were friendly and helpful. When booking I requested an accessible room for my Mother and recognized that there might not be a full range of accessibility features throughout the hotel and property. We appreciate that at check in the clerk was kind enough to waive the resort fee for my Mom. When reviewing her accessible room we noticed a few potential issues I encourage Fairmont to review. Photos attached. - the marble floor and walk in shower areas are too slick. Any water might cause a guest to slip and fall - As a result early Sunday evening I approached the front desk to ask for a rubber bath mat to be delivered by 9pm. This would help reduce the risk of slipping and falling. When returning to Mom's room at 9pm the mat had not been delivered. I spoke to the same clerk who either had trouble comprehending the request or had language translation issues. He said a chair would be delivered and I reiterated that a rubber bath mat was the request. After some to and fro a kind man delivered the rubber mat to my Mother's room. - you will see a photo of the floor with a totally unsuitable cloth mat that was in the room at first. - additional grab bars would be helpful - it is unclear whether the sink style and door size fulfill Quebec accessibility requirements: https://lequebecpourtous.com/en/faq-questions/ - Upon check-in staff could be made aware of a patron in the accessible room and offer assistance as required as the hotel, due to its age, lacks full accessibility. For example, we took my Mother to the spa and took quite a bit of effort to figure out how to get her there without the need for stairs. In addition, it was not possible to drive close to the (employee) entrance required for use. A few other opportunities for improvement that felt like irritants: - the birthday was noted on the reservation for Aux Chantignoles and the hotel did not acknowledge it. Not a big deal, just a disappointment. - Only 2 check in clerks - the line up was terrible. Not everyone wants to check in on-line... - The Ladies change room at the Sports Centre was also a bit frustrating. The single hair dryer did not work, nor was there body lotion available. Once again, small issues however irritants to the experience. The spa staff was helpful in finding a temporary hair dry. - Finally, the gift shop was closed Monday and Tuesday. I recognize this is shoulder season in the area. This has nothing to do with hotel per se since it is open 7 days and appeared to have quite a number of guests. I imagine this service is contracted however I am surprised the hotel does not expect 7 day availability. I hope these few comments provide some potential opportunities for improvement and better experience for future guests. “

Beautiful, relaxing stay

We truly enjoyed the grounds which provided beautiful walking opportunities, delicious dining, and a relaxing fireplace in the main lobby to spend the afternoon relaxing .
