I loved the ambience. The smell of lemon grass and mint, the pleasant garden, the flowers in the rooms, the shower gel and lotion. This is the first time I have ever used A. hotel's toilet supplies. The scent of the shower gel and lotion are heavenly. I actually tried to find them in the market so I could purchase some. The Fairmont is A. place to stay in Kenya. I shall visit again.

Upon arrival in Nairobi, we spent a few days at the Fairmont to adjust to the time change and acclimate ourselves to Kenya before heading out on safari. It was a lovely historic hotel with great service and wonderful restaurants.
Unfortunately, as a group from Newmarket holidays we had to be moved to another hotel due to constant noise from the building works in progress. Some complained about the rooms. We found our room to be very nice and comfortable.

Came to Nairobi 2014 and again 2024 for a Safari. Both times stayed at the Fairmont and it was great. Arranged pickup at busy Nairobi airport. Very helpful. The hotel is beautiful and the staff couldn’t be more pleasant and accommodating. Highly recommended.
Excellent staff. Very helpful.

Recently stayed at Fairmont The Norfolk and unfortunately, the experience was far from satisfactory. Here are the issues I encountered that I feel compelled to highlight: Aging Facilities: The hotel's infrastructure is noticeably outdated. The overall ambiance and condition of the facilities are in dire need of an upgrade. Mysterious Phone Noises: The in-room telephone would emit strange noises without any apparent reason, which was both perplexing and disruptive. Non-Functional Toilet: The toilet was a major disappointment as it failed to flush properly, causing significant inconvenience during my stay. Broken Trash Bin Lid: The lid of the trash bin in the room was broken, which not only looked unappealing but also posed a potential hygiene issue. Inaccessible Hand Soap: The dispenser for the hand soap in the bathroom was not working, making it impossible to use the soap when needed. Erratic Hot Water Supply: The shower had an inconsistent supply of hot water, which was frustrating, especially after a long day. Persistent Odor: Throughout my stay, there was a persistent, unpleasant smell in the room that was difficult to ignore and significantly impacted the overall comfort of my stay. I hope these issues can be addressed promptly to improve the experience for future guests. It's a shame that such a promising location is let down by these basic shortcomings.

Terrific way to begin an African adventure. Hotel seemed to be an example of early British influence in Kenya. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Enjoyed the open design and the gardens.

Issue No. 1: We held an event at The Norfolk, which we had to set up late the night before. We returned to the ballroom in the morning to find that the events team had moved us to another room without any consultation. It was highly disruptive to our team and event. Shockingly, upon receiving our complaint, the Director of Operations denied this had happened. Instead of believing the guests, either she or events team staged a cover-up. Issue No. 2: Room service did not answer the phone, so I called the operator, who also couldn't reach anyone. 15 minutes later room service finally called back. Then they sought to add a KES 1,000 "tray fee" to my room, which was equal to 30% of the meal I was having. It's so petty for a hotel to charge for a low-salaried staff to bring food 150m to a room. This once-great hotel has taken a sharp turn for the worse.
